In Greene County district court Christopher Brian Quirk, 41, of Jefferson was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to one count of forgery. He was fined $750 with a $112.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay $799.43 victim restitution. He was sentenced to two years in prison, with the prison terms concurrent, on a charge of theft- fourth degree against older individual. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. Two counts of identity theft less than $1,500 were dismissed, as was one count of forgery. The court found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, but he must pay $140 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Rebecca Jo Schubert, 40, of Jefferson was sentenced to 180 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. The jail time was suspended and she was placed on probation for one year to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. She was fined $150 with a $22.50 surcharge; both were suspended. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Schubert was granted a deferred judgment on a charge of possession of 50 kg or less of marijuana with intent to deliver while in possession of a firearm. She must pay a civil penalty of $1,025; the penalty was suspended and she was placed on probation to the DOCSs for two years. One count of delivery of marijuana and two counts of possession of marijuana were dismissed. Court costs were $100. A companion case in magistrate court in which Schubert was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed without court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Merissa Shawnay Olson, 34, of Jefferson was sentenced to 60 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of unlawful possession of prescription drug. The jail sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She was fined $430 with as $64.50 surcharge; both were suspended. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Kyle Evan Habrich, 35, of Boone was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Department of Correctional Services for three years. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Habrich was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge. he must pay an amount not to exceed $1,000 for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. William Poio, 50, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. He must pay a civil penalty of $1,250. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. Court costs were $100. Christa Lynn Bluml, 40, of Glidden was sentenced to one year in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense, and she must complete a community college drinking drivers school. Bluml was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if she obtains a temporary restricted license. Jessie James Sanders, 22 of Jefferson was sentenced to 60 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- fourth degree, amended from burglary- third degree. All but 10 days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Victim restitution will remain open for 30 days. Wenger, 35, of Beaver, driving while license barred; Christian Michael O’Brien, 20, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Chelsey Williams, 20, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Phillip Dean Amos, 50, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine, failure to affix tax stamp, keeping premises or vehicle for controlled substance violation, unlawful possession of prescription drug, and intent to deliver methamphetamine; Suanne Elaine Winters, 52, of Bayard, operating while intoxicated and driving while license revoked; Jacob R. Vreugdenhil, 57, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred; Cade Enriquez Brincks, 19, of Carroll, operating while intoxicated; Laryssa Shelbi Bushman, 29, of Scranton, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Kristin Lee Johannesen, 34, of Mesa, AZ, possession of methamphetamine. Trial dates were set for June 18 in every case.
